Thriving Minds – Supporting Your Mental Health & Emotional Wellbeing

Welcome to the Thriving Minds page where you can find services and resources to support you and your family’s mental health & emotional wellbeing journey.

Mental health and emotional wellbeing is the way we think and feel. When we think about healthy living, we tend to focus on looking after our bodies – our physical wellbeing – and often forget that looking after our minds is important too.

We all go through times when we feel worried, confused or down. Mental health problems are when difficulties get in the way of how we think and feel. This can mean we find it hard to cope with family life, relationships, school, work or the wider world. In order to support you, we are highlighting some resources that have been developed by local young people and parents from Newham. We consulted with them on their experiences, what they are passionate about and what they want other young people and parents to know regarding accessing and supporting themselves and their families.

You can find below resources young people created - video clips of their honest and frank conversation about young Black and Asian men and the societal and cultural influences that affect their mental health; a vlog on social media detox and support for advice for young people starting university.

Parents created resources with a focus on activities and conversation starters on how to engage your family on being open and breaking down the taboo of talking about mental health issues.

Everyone experiences anxiety or feeling down but when these problems don’t go away you may need some extra support. Newham has a range of services to help you with these feelings so please do get in touch.
