The Bi-borough Short Breaks Service offers a range of parenting support groups and training for parent/carers.

Logo for the National Autistic Society EarlyBird (under five years) is a support programme for parents and carers, offering advice and guidance on strategies and approaches for dealing with young autistic children. Both programmes work on understanding autism, building confidence to encourage interaction and communication and analysing and managing behaviour.

It involves 8 group sessions and three home visits.

The aim of the programme is to empower parents/carers.


 

Logo for the National Autistic Society EarlyBird Plus is a three-month programme for parents/carers of young children (4-9yrs) with an autism spectrum disorder, and for the professionals supporting them.

It involves eight group sessions and two home visits.

The aim of the programme is to empower parents/carers.

To encourage a consistent approach between home and school by training parents and professionals together.


 

Logo for the National Autistic Society (NAS) Teen Life Programme is the National Autistic Society's (NAS) six-session programme for parents/carers of young people aged 10 to 16 years on the autism spectrum and an accompanying professional.

The Teen Life programme aims to empower parents and supporting professionals to understand more about how autism is experienced by autistic teenagers. Useful strategies will be discussed along with the opportunity to share ideas of how to support the autistic person through their teen years.

Topics covered include understanding autism in teenagers, women and girls, self-esteem, spending time with other people, stress and anxiety, behaviour, puberty, independence skills, education strategies and planning for the future.”


 

Logo for Triple P Triple P

The Group Stepping Stones Triple P Provider Training Course skills practitioners to deliver a broad-focused parenting support program to groups of parents who have children with a developmental disability (aged birth - 12 years).

Group Stepping Stones Triple P (Group SSTP) is suitable for parents with concerns about their child's behavior or who wish to learn a variety of parenting skills that will promote their child's development and potential.

Group Stepping Stones Triple P is suitable as a universal strategy to prevent behavioral and emotional problems in children with a developmental disability. Group Stepping Stones Triple P is delivered to parents over the course of 9 weeks.
