Search tips

If you have trouble finding what you're looking for, try these top tips.

Spelling

Check the spelling of your keywords. Here are some words that are often spelt wrong: leisure, libraries, cycling, aerobics, graffiti, tai chi.

Changing words

Try a range of different words. For example, if you tried the word biking and didn't find what you want, try cycling, BMXing or mountain biking instead.

Phrase search

Use speech marks (") to search for a specific activity, group or phrase. For example, if you want to look up Go Ape for times and dates, you whould put quote marks around "Go Ape"it in the keyword search box.

Avoid extra words

Leave out words like 'and', 'the' and 'or'.

Simple searches

Complicated searches mean fewer results. Keep your searches as simple as possible with one or two words.

Get results you want

  • To see results for stuff everywhere in Derbyshire and nationally, leave the 'In and around' box empty.
  • For activities for any age, leave the 'Age' box empty.
  • If you aren't sure what you're looking for, leave the 'I'm looking for' keyword search box empty.
  • To make your search smaller, just search in  Things to do  Someone to talk to  Places to go.
  • When you put a town or postcode in the 'In and around' search box, it only shows results that are up to five miles away. If you can't find a group try searching for the next nearest place. For example, if you live in Clay Cross you might also want to search for things in Chesterfield and Alfreton.
