About TooDoo

What is this website for?

TooDoo aims to make it easier for 11 to 19-year-olds, their parents, carers, teachers and youth workers to find out about things to do and places to go in Derbyshire for young people.

It offers a searchable list of activities and facilities which include sports, youth clubs, cultural activities such as drama and dance, and leisure opportunities such as open spaces, cinemas, theatres and museums. TooDoo includes activities and venues provided by local councils, the voluntary sector and commercial companies.

TooDoo also provides contacts for local and national help and advice services for young people and their families.

Who owns it?

This website and the Call Derbyshire telephone helpline (08 456 058 058) are run by Derbyshire County Council. TooDoo was set up in May 2008.

A number of partner organisations were also involved in setting up TooDoo including: Connexions Derbyshire, district and borough councils, the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire Police, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, voluntary organisations and Derbyshire Sport.

Young people from Meadows Community School in Chesterfield, Swanwick Hall School near Alfreton and Tupton Youth Club helped to decide the name and design of this website.

Have all the entries been checked?

We do our best to make sure that all our entries are up-to-date, however, we always recommend that you phone beforehand to check that an activity is suitable for you and that it has not been cancelled.

TooDoo does not recommend or endorse any of the activities, venues or groups shown on this website. They are listed to help young people and parents find out about the range of activities available. Please see our parents info and safety tips pages for more information about choosing activities.

Who pays for it?

This website was set up with a 'Publicising Positive Activities' grant from the Government's Department for Children, Schools and Families.

All local authorities in the country received a Government grant to set up web-based information about things to do for young people in their area.
