Who Can Help?

Maybe you can. If you have spare time on Sundays, we’d be pleased to see you. No special skills or previous experience are needed as experienced people are always present and willing to help. We provide all the necessary tools and equipment. All you need to bring are wellington boots, some old clothes and a packed lunch.

What do we do?

We have a varied and enjoyable programme, which includes pond maintenance, footpath construction, improvement of meadows and fens, and scrub clearance. Have a look on Facebook or Twitter to see. We often also have something to eat provided and a time to socialise at the end of the day, as well as a lunchtime walk.

When?

We have tasks in many places in Norfolk, on almost every Sunday, where you can have a chance to do something practical for Nature in Norfolk. We try to start at 10.00 and stop for lunch at 12.30.  This is usually followed by a walk. The day usually ends at 4:30 (or earlier in winter). Everyone is welcome to help out when they can and it is possible to come along for a half day on many tasks. Just ask when you contact the task leader.

Getting there?

What we will be doing, when and where are detailed in our Task Programme, which is sent to members every 2 months. We try to share transport when we can, and have members who can give lifts. We meet at the site at 10:00am.

On the day

Footwear  This depends on the weather and ground conditions, but as many of the sites are wet underfoot (especially in winter), it is a good idea to bring wellington boots if you have some.

Dogs   Dogs are not allowed on most nature reserves. Although they might be allowed on some work sites, we strongly recommend that dogs are not brought out on tasks, as they could be at risk from sharp tools, falling trees etc., and cause people using tools to be distracted.
