The Ashill Community Car Scheme was suspended throughout the pandemic. It is hoped this will restart in September 2022.

The Parish Council are pleased to offer a voluntary Community Car Scheme which is a service offered to people living in Ashill who do not have access to personal transport and public transport is not available for medical-related journeys and hospital visits.

If you are incapacitated and need assistance, please do not expect the driver to assist you for safety reasons. A carer or friend can travel free with the passenger but I am afraid we cannot offer transport to accommodate a wheelchair. If you are a holder of a Blue Badge it is helpful to take this with you when attending appointments.

All bookings should be made to the coordinator, details as above, giving as much notice as possible but at least 48 hours unless an emergency. Any less will hugely increase the chances that a driver cannot be found.

Therefore it would be much appreciated if you require transport to let the coordinator know as soon as possible so that they have time to find a driver who is available.

Also a request to drivers – if you know you are NOT going to be available for certain dates, please could you advise the coordinator so they do not waste their time trying to contact you.

The Parish Council wish to state categorically that because of finance, insurance, passenger and driver safety they will not recognise any journey not booked through the appropriate channels. Anyone trying to circumvent the scheme will render them unable to access the scheme again.

All our drivers are checked and DBS verified before being accepted onto the scheme.
