NHS Health Check

Aged 40-74? Get your FREE NHS Health Check

As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing some health conditions like high blood pressure, heart disease or Type 2 diabetes.

An NHS Health Check can help you reduce these risks and make sure that you stay healthy.

What is the NHS Health Check?

The NHS Health Check is a free check-up of your overall health.

It can tell you whether you're at higher risk of getting certain health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease and stroke.

If you are aged 40-74 and have not already been diagnosed with one of these conditions you can have a free NHS Health Check every five years to assess whether you are at Low, Medium or High risk - and what to do.

Am I eligible?

Anyone between the ages of 40 and 74, who does not have a pre-existing specified condition, can have a free NHS Health Check every five years. Around 263,000 people in Norfolk are currently eligible for an appointment.

You are eligible for a free NHS Health Check if:

  • You are registered with a Norfolk GP or you live in Norfolk
  • You are not being treated by your GP for an existing diagnosed vascular condition
  • You are aged between 40 and 74
  • You have not had an NHS Health Check in the last five years
