Norfolk Library & Information Service - Historic Environment

Norfolk County Council

We help and support communities and the general public to develop and deliver community-led projects which explore, record, interpret and promote Norfolk’s historic environment.

We lead on the delivery of community engagement work and outreach within the Historic Environment Service. Events are organised throughout the year, in partnership with other organisations.

We provide training and supervision to community groups and individuals in archaeological techniques such as field-walking, test pitting and recording of heritage assets.

We also provide advice and input for groups putting together projects relating to Norfolk’s historic environment and coordinate volunteer and student placements within the Historic Environment Service.

If you would like further information on volunteering within the Historic Environment Service or would like advice and support on a community led project, email Gressenhall Archaeology heritage@norfolk.gov.uk.
