Alveva Quilters, Feltwell's very own patchwork and quilting group, has now entered its 22nd year. We named ourselves after the aristocratic medieval lady who appears on our village sign; apparently she owned much land in her own right so we considered she would have been 'high born' and probably a good needle-woman!
We started as a 'kitchen table' group of like-minded young mums and quickly outgrew our meeting venues, having 26 members at the moment, we eventually ended up at the Methodist Hall which has allowed us space to hold meetings, practical workshops and sewing days. And every couple of years or so we put on an exhibition of our work.
We meet once a month, usually the 3rd Wednesday, we often have a speaker who will show us their work and inspire us to create, or we have a Sit and Sew evening when we can share ideas and help each other with individual projects. Through the year we will also organise workshop days with well qualified practitioners to teach us new skills and extend our stitching repertoire.
All are welcome to come and join us, you dont have to pass a test or be a prolific stitcher, just having an interestin needlework and sharing that interest with others is all that is needed. I am sure you will find that we are a friendly bunch who enjoy the social side of our meetings as much as the creativity.
Aleva Quilters meet at the Methodist Hall on the 3rd Wednesday of the month , starting at 7pm.
