Caring Friends for Cancer Mid Norfolk
We provide a befriending service for cancer patients, their family and friends.
We meet in the Conference Room in Wetherspoons in Dereham, each Friday between 10.30 and 2.30, where cancer patients, their friends and family can come and find information , sit quietly or talk about their treatment, diagnosis or recovery. This provides a hub for support and arranging therapies, which are also provided in the privacy of your own home or at the therapist's own premises.
We have qualified staff who can be contacted and can travel to you. We have the support of The Big C in Norwich so any answers we can’t provide can be researched for you through them too.
We can arrange transport to hospital, doctors, provide a befriender who will accompany you.
We can help you source equipment when it becomes necessary, we have two wheelchairs that we can lend. We can help with cooking a meal, the odd bit of laundry, help with finding more intense care, having a chat with a befriender if you are lonely.
In certain circumstances we can also offer a respite break for you and a carer at a place suitable to your situation.
We have our regular coffee mornings at The Methodist Chapel in Toftwood, we also meet at Meeting Point in town for quizzes and plan also to be able to do talks on other subjects like Nutrition, Looking Good, and Exercise.
Do you have a "Bucket List"? We may be able to help you to complete it!!
