Norfolk Libraries Reminiscence Kits and Packs

Reminiscence kits and packs (objects, touch, feel, sounds and images to stimulate conversations with people with memory loss) are borrowed by relatives and carers of people with dementia and activity coordinators in residential care homes. Kits and packs are free to borrow.

Reminiscence is the recollection of memories from the past. Libraries offer a range of reminiscence kits and packs for loan on different themes, to help trigger memories and discussion with people with memory loss. The kits were developed in consultation with a wide range of local organisations including NHS, Adult Social Services and Age UK. Over 200 kits are available to borrow for 3 weeks.

The library service provides occasional training for volunteers who want to use the packs with groups of older people with memory loss. Many libraries hold 'picture your past' activities - reminiscence using photographs as memory triggers.

It's FREE to joing the library, for more information check with your local library.
