Norfolk Safeguarding Adults Board
Safeguarding is preventing the physical, emotional, sexual, psychological and financial abuse of adults who have care and support needs, and acting quickly when abuse is suspected. It can also include neglect, domestic violence, modern slavery, organisational or discriminatory abuse.
Adult Social Services is the lead organisation in preventing and identifying possible abuse, and as part of this work it hosts Norfolk’s Safeguarding Adults Board.
The Norfolk Safeguarding Adults Board (NSAB) is the formal arrangement which brings together statutory and non-statutory organisations to actively promote effective working relationships between different organisations and professional groups to address the issue of abuse and harm. In doing so NSAB's aim is to promote awareness and good practice in Norfolk in:
- safeguarding ‘adults at risk’ from abuse or neglect
- prevention and detection of abuse
- using the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
