Little Lambs Playgroup at Christ Church Mayfair

Service/Activity is chargeable

Little Lambs runs Thursday morning during term time meeting in the Christ Church Mayfair (CCM) building.

We provide a safe environment for children, with time to play, sing together and share in story telling each week. We also want to look after parents and caregivers and offer the friendship, community and coffee and cake.

Please do pop in and join us, no booking required. We very much look forward to welcoming you.

Our aim is to provide an environment where children can play whilst parents can make new friends, have a drink and enjoy some adult conversation (keeping an eye out for children at the same time!). We try to do a simple craft activity most weeks at about 10.15am, and towards 11.15am we pack all the toys away and gather everyone together to sing action songs and nursery rhymes.Playgroup Thursday mornings (term time only) from 10.00 to 11.30am for Under 5s.

The Venture Centre

Combining the country’s oldest adventure playground with a vibrant community centre and London’s only purpose-built steel pan rehearsal room, the Venture Community Association (known locally as “The Venture”) is located in the heart of Golborne, North Kensington.

We seek to offer this vibrant and diverse community a unique combination of opportunities:

  • Access to adventure play and sports for children of all ages and backgrounds, including those with special needs and/or who are socially excluded
  • Opportunities for fun and enjoyment for people of all ages
  • Opportunities for learning, personal growth and development, with a particular focus on developing healthy lifestyles and improving life chances
  • A community space for people to express themselves, celebrate together, and meet to develop mutual support and a sense of community

Our playground, the Notting Hill Adventure Playground, offers free, supervised and OFSTED-registered adventure play for local children aged 5-15. We complement the play provision with arts and crafts, a sports programme, cooking classes and regular trips.

Connected Lives is a new charity set up to support families in Westminster and across London. We run a range of activities: Toddler Drop Ins, Baby Groups, Parenting Evenings , Circle of Security Parenting Groups, Groups for parents of teenagers, Hold Me Tight and Relationship Foundations Groups.

We know that family life isn't always easy. As parents we can struggle to get that balance of no nonsense kindness and as partners we can find it hard to keep our relationships loving, fun and intimate. All too often we can end up frustrating or hurting the very people we love most. At Connected Lives our groups and courses give parents, partners and children space to think about their relationships, permission to struggle and help to respond in new ways so that everyone can thrive.

Contact us if you would like to join in with any of our activities.

More information

We’re improving the support you and your family receive in Westminster. As part of this, we are creating three Family Hubs offering more support and advice that now includes families with children up to 19 years of age.

The Family Hub means the professionals who support you working together – including health visitors, school nurses, outreach teams, Early Help workers, social workers and local organisations.

The first Family Hub opened at the Bessborough Centre in Pimlico in the summer of 2018. Churchill Gardens Children’s Centre has moved to this site and is continuing to offer all their play sessions, family support, courses and workshops. There are also birth registrations on site, housing advice, parenting courses, Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services and a range of new initiatives to be developed.

The family hub means the professionals who support you working together in a more joined up way – including health visitors, school nurses, outreach teams, Early Help, social workers and local organisations such as St Vincent’s Family Project and the Cardinal Hume Centre. If you visit the hub and could benefit from a range of different services, one of our family navigators may meet with you to plan them out and make sure you get the right support at the right time.

Under 5s living in Westminster, attending with family, are prioritised.

As Stay and Play places are limited, we no longer admit childcare professionals to these sessions.

Parents Voice

Parents Voice is a meeting for parents/carers who use our children’s centres.

It’s a great opportunity for parents/carers to come together in a relaxed space and have a cup of tea and a chat.

You can often listen to guest speakers who give important information on particular topics of interest relating to young children such as, weaning, the importance of young children’s play or managing difficult behaviour.

Why you should get involved

The aim of this meeting is to encourage the expression of your views and contributions on how the services offered from your local children’s centre can be improved and developed to support both your needs and those of your local community.  It is a meeting where you can find out information and contribute to the shaping of future services.

About us

Queen’s Park Children's Centre provides a range of services for children under the age of five and their families. These services are based around a ‘core offer’ of integrated early learning, parenting courses, family support, health services, outreach services and access to training and employment advice.

There is a variety of services for parents and children which take place in the children’s centre and these include:

  • Drop-in sessions
  • Parenting groups
  • Faces = Familiy And Communities Employment Services
  • Breastfeeding support sessions
  • Young Parents sessions
  • Child Health Clinic
  • My time Active 1-1 Dietitian
  • Citizens Advice Bureau
  • Baby Massage
  • Baby & Me groups (Maternity Champions)

Bookstart

Service/Activity is free

Sharing books, stories and rhymes with your child from an early age can help create a lifelong reader. Bookstart is here to guide you on your child’s reading journey from 0-5 years.

Every child in England and Wales is entitled to a free Bookstart pack before they are 12 months old and again aged 3-4 years (27 months in Wales). Bookstart also gifts additional needs packs for babies and toddlers, as well as black-and-white booklets for newborns and dual language books.

Find out how you can get your packs and explore our website. You'll find interactive storybooks and gamesthemed booklists, a bookfinder to give you inspiration, activities to make and do at home and much more.
