Many parents rely upon childcare to meet the needs of busy family lives but can be overwhelmed by the cost of childcare.
There are schemes out there to help you with the costs of accessing childcare. As long as the childcare is Ofsted-registered, you may want to consider the following:
- 15 Hours Free care for two-year-olds (Busy2s)
- 15 Hours Free care for three and four-year-olds (inc. Additional 15 hours for working parents)
- Tax credits
- Childcare vouchers
- Help while you study
There are a number of organisations that can help you with your concerns. A good place to start is to take a look at the Citizens Advice website: www.citizensadvice.org.uk/debt-and-money
You should also consider talking to organisations which you may owe money to, like your landlord, mortgage lender or credit card companies, to see what help they can provide.
The Westminster Advice Service Partnership (WASP) is the Council funded independent advice provider, they can help give you more information or speak specifically about your situation. www.westminsteradvice.org.uk or 0300 330 1191 (Calls to this service cost the same as calling 01 and 02 numbers. If you call from a mobile, please enter this number when asked to ‘enter a local landline number’: 020 7706 6012)
