Eastwood Nursery ASD Resource Base

Eastwood Nursery School has a small number of places for children with social communication disorders including autistic spectrum disorders (ASD), and for vulnerable 2 year olds. A resource base is a specialist provision within a mainstream school.

All resource bases cater for children who can access a mainstream curriculum but who need additional support or small group work in order for this to be successful.

Resource bases operate in different ways:

  • children may attend a specific unit in the school for part or all of the school day, and/or
  • they may receive focused specialist support in the main classrooms.

They are all staffed with specialist teachers, support assistants and therapists with expertise in ASD who work in the base and with mainstream teachers.

Description

What is Wandsworth’s Local Offer ?

Placements at the resource base are allocated by Wandsworth Council’s Special Needs Assessment Section, in consultation with the Head teacher, the Head of the ASD Base and the parent(s) or carer(s).

Three ASD places are available in each school year group from Reception to Year 6, up to a maximum of 20 places in total.

Your child needs to have an  Education Health and Care Plan (or Statement of Special Educational Needs) which names this provision.

The SEND Local Offer team value all feedback you may have about this service or the Local Offer in general. We invite you to click this link to leave your comments.
