Kinda Education CIC Multigenerational, Nature Based Education

Kinda Education CIC LOGO

Kinda Education is an organisation for Multigenerational, sociocratic , nature-based education.

We have been Quality Assured since 2020 by Suffolk County Council , are Ofsted Registered, a National Forest School Association Accredited Provider and a FSA Endorsed Training Provider.

Kinda Forest School is part of The Kinda Education CIC who work within woodlands and wild areas to promote and deliver learning support with equality, kindness and reconnection.

Our site is in Halesworth, Suffolk. We use traditional forest school child-led activities we nurture confidence and emotional resilience. Supporting connection with nature, community and ourselves.

Our sessions have a high staff ratio that include ‘Nature Mentors’ ( one to one / two to one support for the children who need it) ‘Play Catalysts’ ( play workers who support the whole group to build community and fun) and ‘Hearth Keepers’ ( person responsible for keeping the fire burning and preparing and cooking a home cooked healthy breakfast and lunch on the fire with the children).

Following a low arousal, non-judgemental approach experienced Kinda staff gently support  children and young people (YP) to find their unique space in nature and community. By nurturing a sense of belonging through a culture of kindness, awareness and care.

As the child begins to feel a sense of belonging, and trust, they gain momentum to self-initiate projects that interest them which could include camp fire cooking, gardening, woodland conservation, woodwork, art and writing/telling stories.

Children and young people who are referred to us are observed and reported on each week using our PEPSC reports which look at the whole development of a child. PEPSC stands for Personal, Emotional, Practical and Social and Community. This helps us meet the child where they are.

Our ‘Elders’- (retired skilled volunteers)- help to form an important multigenerational structure. They bring with them a wisdom and calm that comes with age, and can often be found chatting or crafting around the fire circle.

Each child and young person who is referred to us has a support plan developed in collaboration with the referrer, family, carer and young person. These are reviewed dynamically and termly.

A Nature Mentor is chosen to fit the child’s needs.

A child can attend between one and three of our small group sessions per week and we also have the ability to support a child moving into larger group sessions when ready.

We support the development of EHCP proposals and reviews, and liaise with other external agencies working as a team around the child.
