Carers

Description_of_Image

An unpaid carer spends a significant proportion of their life providing unpaid support to family or friends. This could be caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems.

Caring for someone can be stressful, exhausting and affect someone’s ability to work.  It can also lead to poor mental and physical health.

In this category, you will find organisations that offer support for unpaid carers; including advice, counselling and provision of breaks.

Advice lines and groups for specific health conditions and impairments are also included; they may be of relevance to the person whom the carer supports.

Carers Assessments

If you provide unpaid care for someone who lives in Southend on a regular basis then you can have a Carers Assessment.  This will see what support Southend-on-Sea Borough Council can provide.  Please call 01702 215 008 to arrange for an assessment.
