Coronavirus (COVID-19)

In accordance with the latest government announcement regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, users should be aware of the instruction to stay at home, and to only leave the house for food, health reasons or essential work. You should also stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people.

In light of this, the groups, clubs and societies listed within the Shropshire Community Directory will be unable to meet until further notice, and there may be a reduced service for other local and national organisations.

For further information, please contact the individual groups or organisations listed.

University of the Third Age (Much Wenlock and District)

The University of the Third Age (U3A) is a nationwide organisation based on local U3As providing opportunities for retired and semi-retired people to come together and develop their interests.
They are not a university in a traditional sense, as they do not study for qualifications; with members just enjoying taking part and meeting people.

It is a voluntary organisation, with members sharing their knowledge and experience with others in interest groups, running informal activity sessions covering a wide range of subjects.
Above all, the U3A exists to help you make friends, develop your interests and enjoy yourself.

The Much Wenlock and District U3A has some 30 active groups covering a broad range of topics from academic (philosophy) and music (ukulele), to hobbies (chess) or pure leisure (out with friends). There are no entrance qualifications, set curriculum or examinations.  Groups are run by members who volunteer to pass on their valuable knowledge to others.

Monthly talks take place in the Priory Hall, and are open to all members (and non-members for a nominal fee).  They provide an opportunity to enjoy a talk lasting about an hour.  At most meetings an experienced speaker is invited to give a talk on a subject of general interest, with complimentary refreshments provided afterwards, allowing members to enjoy socialising over tea and biscuits.

For more information about all of their activities and interest groups, including the programme of monthly talks and how to join, please follow the link to visit their website.
