Coronavirus (COVID-19)

In accordance with the latest government announcement regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, users should be aware of the instruction to stay at home, and to only leave the house for food, health reasons or essential work. You should also stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people.

In light of this, the groups, clubs and societies listed within the Shropshire Community Directory will be unable to meet until further notice, and there may be a reduced service for other local and national organisations.

For further information, please contact the individual groups or organisations listed.

Aphasia Alliance

Description:

The Aphasia Alliance is a coalition of key organisations from all over the UK that work in the field of aphasia.

Aphasia (sometimes called dysphasia) is a communication disability that occurs when the language centres of the brain are damaged.  It is most often caused by stroke, but can also be caused by a brain haemorrhage, brain tumour or other neurological conditions.  Aphasia affects the person’s ability to find the words they want to express themselves, both in speech and writing.  It may also affect their ability to understand the written and spoken word.

Aphasia is a hidden disability because there is often no visual sign that someone with aphasia has a disability.  Aphasia affects not only the person with it but has an impact on family and friends as well.

For more information, please follow the link to the website which includes a 'Members & Links' page giving details of the individual member organisations.
