Description:

Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides health care services for communities in East Staffordshire, North West Leicestershire, South Derbyshire, Lichfield and Tamworth districts, serving a population of about 360,000.

There are four sites: Queen's Hospital, Burton-on-Trent, Community Hospital services at Samuel Johnson Hospital in Lichfield and Sir Robert Peel Hospital in Tamworth. Queen’s Hospital, Burton-on-Trent, provides acute hospital services such as an emergency department, operating theatres, inpatient beds, a dedicated endoscopy suite, a modern breast care unit, a dedicated stroke facility and a nationally renowned resuscitation training facility.

Specialities at the Treatment Centre include; ear, nose and throat, general surgery, breast surgery, gynaecology, urology, maxillofacial/oral surgery, plastic surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology and rheumatology.

The Community Hospital services include cardiology, colorectal surgery, dermatology, diabetes, ENT (ear, nose and throat), general medicine, gall bladder, gastroenterology, general paediatrics, general surgery, gynaecology, haematology, minor injuries unit, maternity, neurology, neuro-rehabilitation, ophthalmology, respiratory, rheumatology and urology.

The Trust recognises the importance of working in the community, providing patients with the choice to access services in a setting that may be more amenable for them. They are committed to delivering sustainable and viable services so that they can meet the needs of the patients.
