Mayor of Shrewsbury's Camp Fund for Children
Description:
The Mayor of Shrewsbury's Camp Fund for Children is a charity established by Mr Llewellyn Tudor Owen, Mayor of Shrewsbury from 1955 to 1956, "for the distribution in Grants to poor children between the ages of 11 and 14 who are in the Municipal Borough of Shrewsbury."
The funds available (approximately £350 a year), help to offset expenses for such schemes as activity camps, sports courses, purchase of school books and equipment, for those financially disadvantaged.
Applicants must have reached their 11th birthday and not reached their 14th birthday on 1 September in the year in which application for grant is made.
The charity is administered by 14 Trustees who meet in January and July each year.
Application forms can be obtained by post or email from the Clerk to the Trustees.
