The Column Nursery


Nurturing childcare offered in a small, friendly setting with kind, caring, qualified and experienced staff. Our light filled building is on the ground floor with large floor to ceiling windows. The playroom has different areas for learning through play, with separate quiet room for sleep. We offer opportunities for art, craft, cooking, role-play, construction, singing, stories, messy play, small world, puzzles, early learning. We have a large mature garden which has sunny and shaded areas with large construction for den building, digging, mud play, tree climbing, including tarmac area for wheeled toys. We make visits to the local community such as the park, library, shops and residential home. Our cook prepares home-cooked meals and snacks from raw ingredients daily and can cater for a variety of dietary needs. Annual meetings with staff & health visiting team for your child's development needs. We offer morning sessions, short and full days, and a holiday club for children 3 years+. Funded early education for 2, 3, and 4-year olds, including 24u, 15 hours and the extended 30 hours throughout the year. Early Years Teacher led, with first aid, safeguarding, food hygiene, effective communication, and SEN training. Local Offer: On induction to the setting the SENCO or key person and parents share information about the strengthens and needs of the child through discussion and the completion of an All About Me form. the parents will have the opportunity to accompany their child on visits to help settle them and develop relationships with key person. Children will always be at the heart of all we do. We work with the parents and support the child together. We make regular observational assessments of all children in our care. These are linked to the ages and stages of development, which can help us, identify individual needs of the children. Observations, listening, assessments, evaluations all contribute individual Learning Provision Plans (ILPPs). we listen to you as well as your child. Our SENCO will explain how children's individual needs can be met by planning support using an ILPP and the advice from the area SENCO. If required, staff will attend training related to a child's needs before they attend the setting. Meeting with Health Care Professionals will help the child's transition into the setting.
