Spring at Acorn Childcare Centre

Spring at Acorn Childcare Centre is an outstanding Early Years Provider and is part of a nationwide network of 43 nurseries run by the charity ‘Action for Children’. Spring delivers the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework, which sets standards for the learning, development and care of children from birth to five. What sets Spring apart, is that we’re the national lead for the Early Years Foundation Stage. Spring promotes early year’s child development by delivery a warm, stimulating environment to give your child the very best start in life and cater for every child’s needs and development. In our setting, we incorporate practices from Reggio Emilia and Montessori styles to enhance children’s learning and self-confidence. These methods encourage children to become actively independent learners and develop important life skills, which work well with our individual EYFS planning to support each child’s learning. Children of all ages have access to our wonderful sensory room and sensory garden. Every child is able to take part in our Forest School area, which enables it to explore the outdoors and learn new life skills. Our older children are able to participate in extra-curricular activities including football sessions, dance classes, weekly interactive storytelling, and puppet workshops, which build the foundations for literacy and promote skilful communication. Our Pre-School children also benefit from simple weekly French lessons. Each December, children are encouraged to retell the story of the Nativity at a special service held in church on the base. We operate a crèche provision during school holidays. For more details on Spring by Action for Children you can visit the website We offer 24U funding, the universal 15 hours and the extended 30 hours for 3 & 4 year olds. Local Offer: As part of our SEND, we have a dedicated SENCO team that works closely with parents and other professionals to develop a learning plan to enable all children to participate in nursery life whilst meeting the child’s individual needs. When supporting children, our staff have a variety of different skills and knowledge in speech and language, Dyslexia awareness, sensory processing issues, visual and hearing impairment, Dyspraxia and Makaton. Our Nursery is based upon one level and the outdoor area is accessible from each room enabling all children to access both indoor and outdoor spaces. Outside, we have a sensory garden with large wooden musical instruments and sensory walkways for children to explore. The indoor sensory room boasts an LED light tunnel, bubble machines, interactive flooring, sensory materials and multi-cultural instruments. Within all our rooms, staff are able to adapt the environment or experiences to ensure that all children can participate in activities.
