General Council and Register of Naturopaths (GCRN)

Description:

Naturopathy is an approach to health care which aims to promote, restore and maintain health.

Naturopaths use many different types of treatment applied in a way which works with the body’s healing power and self-correcting mechanisms.

Treatments may include:

  • clinical dietetics and applied nutrition
  • detoxification techniques
  • hydrotherapy
  • physical therapy including osteopathy and chiropractic (by an appropriately registered practitioner), naturopathic physical manipulation, manual lymphatic drainage, massage and other soft tissue techniques
  • psychotherapeutic techniques
  • advice regarding a healthy lifestyle
  • other therapies such as Medical Herbalism

As with many complementary and alternative treatments naturopathy is not covered by any legislation so it is important to make sure you choose a practitioner carefully.

The General Council of Registered Naturopaths (GCRN) is the largest naturopathic register in the UK, which only registers trained and qualified practitioners.

For more information and help finding a therapist follow the link to the General Council of Registered Naturopaths.
