Burford Preschool C.I.C

Burford Preschool C.I.C operates from a demountable classroom in the grounds of Burford Primary C of E School. We have a large classroom and a fantastic outdoor free flow area, with safety surface and astro-turf area, linked to the school playground where our children have allocated times to ride a variety of wheeled toys. Both the preschool and the free flow area can be accessed via a ramp and although we do not have a disabled toilet the Primary school does. We share strong transition links with the school, which enables us to use the playground, field and school hall. We deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage using a wide range of age and ability appropriate activities that the children can access indoors and outdoors in the free flow area. Each child is allocated a key person who helps support them as they settle into preschool life. They also work with parents to meet their individual, emotional and care needs and provide their personalised learning and development. At Preschool we promote positive relationships between all children. Children are encouraged to share and take turns with all their peers, playing nicely whilst respecting everyone's involvement and ideas. Staff encourage children to develop a positive sense of themselves. Staff provide opportunities for children to develop their self-knowledge, self esteem and increase their confidence in their own abilities. Children develop a tolerance and respect for their own and other cultures and traditions and share and discuss practises, celebrations and experiences. Staff promote diverse attitudes and challenge stereotypes, through discussions, we reflect and value the diversity of children's experiences. Local offer: All members of staff attend relevant and ongoing SEND training as well as being qualified in Early Years child development. Staff attend specific training on Speech and Language and we use Makaton to support early speech development. All members of staff are supported in SEND by our SENCO's Sarah Pitt and Jane Morgan. Our SENCO's offer support and advice to your child's key person and other staff within the setting. Activities will be adapted to ensure that your child is able to interact fully with the environment. Visual strategies such as visual timetables can be used to help understand routines. A full copy can be found on our website. During some terms when there is a demand for extra clubs, we open at 7.45am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for our Breakfast Club.
