Coronavirus (COVID-19)

In accordance with the latest government announcement regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, users should be aware of the instruction to stay at home, and to only leave the house for food, health reasons or essential work. You should also stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people.

In light of this, the groups, clubs and societies listed within the Shropshire Community Directory will be unable to meet until further notice, and there may be a reduced service for other local and national organisations.

For further information, please contact the individual groups or organisations listed.

Disabled Living Foundation

DLF is a national charity providing impartial advice, information and training on independent living since 1969. It is a founder member of the Information Standard, a certification scheme for health and social care information. We are the UK’s leading source of impartial information and expert advice on independent living. We have built up an unparalleled range of information on daily living equipment and other useful advice for people who might need help in living their live to the full.

What we do:

  • DLF training offers a 'value for money' programme of CPD-accredited courses aimed at professional healthcare providers and carers, as well as informal carers and others who wish to learn more about interactions with disabled people.
  • DLF's Factsheets provide general advice about things to consider when choosing a wide range of daily living equipment, including bath lifts and bath seats, walk-in showers, telecare, household gadgets, communications aids and more.
  • Call our Helpline if you need free, impartial advice about mobility products or other types of daily living equipment for disabled people, information on where you can buy or hire items or details of local organisations that can help you.
  • Have a look at our library of simple electronic aids where you can borrow equipment for two weeks to see if they work for you. You have to pay a temporary deposit and the return postage to send it back to us, but otherwise our library is free to use.
  • Find out about the services DLF offers for parents and carers of children and young people with disabilities and those who work with them, such as teachers, paediatric occupational therapists and physiotherapists.
