The Glade - Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC)

Description:

The Glade Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) is a dedicated centre which provides a comprehensive service to men, women and young people who have been raped or sexually assaulted.

The Glade has two sites which cover the West Mercia area - one in Bransford, Worcestershire and one in Wellington, Telford.

Their services can be accessed via the police - if an assault is reported The Glade’s services may be offered as part of the police’s response.

For victims who do not wish to report to the police or are unsure whether they want to involve police they can self refer to The Glade by calling the 24 hour self referral line 0808 178 2058 to discuss their options with a specially trained Crisis Worker. These options may include a forensic medical examination to gather and store evidence, if appropriate, referrals for ongoing and long term support, advice about pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections and referrals to the local GUM (Genito-Urinary Medicine) clinic for full STI screening. The Glade provides a counselling service to its clients.

Where appropriate and with the victims consent The Glade may make referrals to Sexual Health, ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisors), GPs and local organisations that offer counselling. If consent is given, The Glade may also share information anonymously with the police about the assault, on the victims behalf. This would only be done with the victims consent.
