Tanat to Perry Community Wildlife Group (Oswestry South)
Description:
The Tanat to Perry Community Wildlife Group (TPCWG) was set up in March 2018 to survey for Lapwing and Curlew in an area extending from Oswestry in the north to Kinnerley in the south, and eastward from the Welsh border to Ruyton-XI-Towns: from the Tanat to the Perry.
The breeding populations of Curlew and Lapwing are declining dramatically, and the TPCWG aims to establish where they can still be found locally and then work with farmers and landowners to try to reverse the decline.
The group needs volunteers to help with the survey, and also welcomes reports of sightings of Curlews and Lapwings anywhere in their study area during the breeding season. There is no need to be an expert birdwatcher: Lapwings and Curlews are easy to recognise and survey training is available for anyone who would like it.
The group currently focuses on its Curlew and Lapwing study but other projects may follow depending on members' interests.
