Lewis Carroll Society

Description:

The Lewis Carroll Society was founded in 1969 to bring together people with an interest in Lewis Carroll (Charles Dodgson), to promote interest in his life and works, and to encourage research.

The society is a registered charity, nominally based in London, and is run entirely by volunteers.  As a charity, they are committed to promoting the educational benefits associated with the study of Lewis Carroll's life and works, without losing sight of the fact that the works are there to be read and enjoyed.

The Society has members from all over the world, including many leading libraries and institutions, authors, researchers, and many who simply enjoy Carroll's books.  It is particularly popular with students and people who have heard a little about Lewis Carroll and want to find out more about the man and his work.

All members receive a range of quarterly and annual publications, and the Society holds several meetings each year in London. These usually feature a guest speaker, but sometimes take the form of panel discussions, or collections of short papers.  In addition, they also organise regular day visits to places with a Carroll connection, such as Oxford or Guildford and occasional residential study tours.
