Coronavirus (COVID-19)

In accordance with the latest government announcement regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, users should be aware of the instruction to stay at home, and to only leave the house for food, health reasons or essential work. You should also stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people.

In light of this, the groups, clubs and societies listed within the Shropshire Community Directory will be unable to meet until further notice, and there may be a reduced service for other local and national organisations.

For further information, please contact the individual groups or organisations listed.

Shropshire Rifle & Pistol Association

Shropshire Rifle & Pistol Association supports and promotes all shooting disciplines.

The Association was formed in 1907 as the 'Shropshire Miniature Rifle Association' and after a break of just over six years due to the outbreak of World War Two, it was reformed in 1945, this time under the name of 'Shropshire Small-Bore Rifle Assoc', to reflect the type of shooting that was being done by its members.  In 1962 the name changed again to the Shropshire Rifle Association.

One final change of name in 1985 saw the club become known as the Shropshire Rifle & Pistol Association, which it still is today.  This was done so that all shooting disciplines were supported by the County, and over 30 years later, the Association still has the same secretary as it had back in 1985.

In 1988 the Airgun Leagues of Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth, Wrekin, Clun Valley, and Wenlock all became affiliated members of the Association, to enable them to take up the NSRA Insurance.  These leagues shoot on the Bell Target system in pubs and clubs throughout Shropshire and the surrounding counties, and are an integral part of the County Association.

The Association's format has not changed over the years since 1907, but can be typically described as grass root shooting County.  The County strives to promote all shooting interests.
