Westview Childcare is a home-based childminding setting operating from a purpose built barn conversion on our small holding in a rural village where children can be carefree and independent, helping with the animals and growing fruit and vegetables, children become involved on harvesting and cooking the fruit and vegetables. Children take part in caring for ducks, chickens, emus, donkeys, pigs, guinea pigs, sheep and horses. We allow children freedom to decide on their own learning journey and to use us for support and help. We encourage independence and friendly behaviour and good communication skills. We love spontaneity and incidental learning as we enjoy our daily routines. There are usually two adults to six pre-school children. I also run a breakfast and after school club during term time to and from Hinstock Primary School. We were very proud to receive an outstanding judgement in February 2015. We provide government funded education sessions for eligible 2, 3, & 4-year olds. Local Offer: We observe assess and plan following each individual child's interests and abilities using the Early Years Foundation Stag as guidance. Assessments are carried out each term to monitor progress and share with parents and a two-year-old development check is carried out for parent’s to contribute to and take to their child's health visit appointment. If children stay with us until they start school, we will carry out a school transition assessment. When a child starts they will receive an "All about me" form which focuses on their strengths, areas of development, home life interests and language which helps identify the types of activities and support to be provided. We use home diaries for sharing information and an introduction to the EYFS. I have worked as a childminder for 18 years and have always maintained an inclusive service - we have cared for children with autism, cerebral palsy and children with speech and language delay. We have string support networks using local s.e.n.d co-ordinators and i belong to the Professional Association of Childcare and Early Years (Pacey) who also offer an excellent support service and online training. Our environment at Westview is designed to consider children using wheelchairs or rollators - with slopes, wide doorways and a disabled toilet.
