Market Drayton Senior Citizens' Forum
Description:
Market Drayton Senior Citizens Forum is a volunteer run organisation formed in 2004 under the auspices of Shropshire Seniors, also known as the Shropshire Association of Senior Citizen Forums.
The Forum listens to, supports and represents the views of older people living in Market Drayton and the surrounding area. When necessary they promote these views at local, county, regional and national level.
In addition to encouraging members to share their points of view, they are also an informal and sociable group. Meetings usually consist of time for a speaker on topics such as the Library Services, or other subjects of interest to members such as the effects of changes to the NHS Service.
A small charge is made for refreshments and a raffle, which helps to cover costs such as the room hire. The group also arranges occasional away-days such as to the Arboretum or for lunch at the local garden centre.
For anyone wishing to go along to listen or share you views, meetings are held at 2pm on the first Tuesday of every month (excluding August and December), and new members seeking community involvement, social opportunities, help and advice are always welcome.
