Kathryn Elizabeth Haslam

I am a registered childminder in Boarshaw, Middleton I have a Good Ofsted rating. Prior to becoming a childminder I have 26 years nursing experience specialising in adult and paediatric resuscitation and have been a cub leader and school governor. I work with my husband Tim who is registered as my assistant, we have two children both at university. Our dog is called Tess and our cat is Smokey.

I have a designated play area in the house with toys and games to enable children to learn and develop using play and imagination. My home is a safe, fun and caring environment and I am committed to helping each child in my care to reach their full potential and acquire the skills they need to aid a smooth transition to school or nursery when the time arrives.

Outdoors, I have a large secure garden with lots to see, do and stimulate. There are lots of outdoor toys, including a playhouse, sand and water play and climbing frame and slides. I have a shaded area under the tree for outdoor play and story time. A large patio area for play vehicles and chalk drawings. All activities indoor and outdoor can be accessible, whatever the weather. I attend local groups to enable children to mix in larger groups and regularly plan activities and days out with other childminders. I am a member of the Forest Childcare Association and Best Practice Club. We also share an allotment with Caz's Cuties where we plant, grow and eat our own vegetables, we also have a grassed area for story and song time.

Tim and I are both first aid trained and have completed mandatory safeguarding training. I also ensure I attend additional courses throughout the year to ensure I am up to date with current practices and developments within childcare.
