Kinship

About

Kinship

Kinship is the leading kinship care charity in England and Wales. We are here for all kinship carers – the grandparents and siblings, the aunts, uncles, and family friends who step up to raise children when their parents aren’t able to.

We won’t rest until every kinship family has the recognition, value and support they need and deserve.

What we do

We work to support grandparents and the wider family by:

  • Campaigning for change so their contribution to children's wellbeing and care is valued and understood.
  • Providing evidence, policy solutions and training so they get the services and support there need to help children thrive.
  • Building alliances and networks so they can have a voice and support each other, especially when they become children's full-time carers.

We offer:

  • Independent advice service to help kinship carers navigate the system and find out what benefits and allowances are available to them.
  • Help to apply for grants
  • Preparation workshops
  • One-to-one peer support over the phone
  • Peer support groups across the UK
  • A community of over 7,000 kinship carers
