Bury Walk In Centre
The centre is a drop-in service for people who need urgent care for minor injuries and illness. The service is not for the treatment of ongoing, routine or managed care, for example injections, removal of sutures (stitches) and changing dressings.
People who do not have an urgent minor injury or illness will be signposted on to an alternative appropriate service.
The centre should be used where you are unable to get an appointment with your own GP and where you need to be seen the same day. It is intended as an alternative to going to A&E - which is for emergencies only.
You can walk in and see a qualified and experienced nurse for conditions such as:
- Ear/nose/throat symptoms.
- Minor cuts and bruises.
- Sprains and strains.
- Abdominal pain.
- Insect and animal bites.
- Urinary tract infections.
As this is a drop-in service, there are no appointments or referrals into this service. You should go directly to the Pennine Care reception desk on the first floor of Moorgate Primary Care Centre to book into the walk in centre.
If you wish to see a doctor you are able to contact your GP practice directly to book an appointment. Evening and weekend appointments are available. The nurses are not able to directly refer you to a doctor. You can also seek advice and support from your pharmacist or by phoning NHS 111
Staff work hard to see people as quickly as possible, however there may be up to a four hour wait to be seen. This depends on demand and complexity of patients attending on any given day.
