Youth Group Session - Syke Community Base

Wednesday 6pm to 8pm and Friday 6.15pm to 7.15pm

The sessions are for children aged 5 to 11 years, they are provided to meet the needs of the child, to enable them to socialise in a structured out of school environment which helps to improve their social skills, and meet the needs of the whole child.

It provides an opportunity for interaction with a wide range of children from different cultural and social backgrounds in a play/activity learning based environment.

All children attending these groups engage in a wide variety of activities both within and outside the community base. Playing pool, air hockey, football tables, table top games, team games, physical games, play stations and using the computer to help with their homework.

The many creative activities provided during the sessions include, portrait paintings, collages, junk modelling, glass painting, free painting including lots of glitter, T-shirt decorating, making cushions, tile painting and much more, like taking part in BBC Children in Need.

Syke Parent and Toddler Group

Our parent and toddler group is for children aged between 0 to 4 years and runs every Thursday from 11.30am to 1.30pm.

This is an established group that acts as a feeder to the pre-school nursery. The main purpose of a stay and play group is to provide the opportunity for parents/carers with children from the age of 0 to 4 to meet socially; it reduces social isolation of new parents, and provides the opportunity for children to develop and learn through interacting with children of their own age.

Children attending this group are from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds there is a good mix of young parents, grandparents and carers which increases the confidence of younger parents.
