New Step for African Community (NESTAC)
About
NESTAC is a charitable community organisation aimed at supporting refugees, asylum seekers and other immigrants from the new emerging communities, with a focus on those from African origin living in the North West of England.
What we do
We offer a range of services and activities to meet the needs of our community and service users through the following:
- Informal education through cross-cultural awareness trainings/workshops
- Drop-in sessions for support, advice and guidance
- Research projects to inform and share learning on the effects of cultural beliefs on migrant families’ lives
- Health and wellbeing programme
- Violence against women and girls programme
- Food bank
- Africa programme
- CYPO programme
NESTAC is a champion in addressing cultural and traditional issues affecting the health and wellbeing of African immigrant families, with a special focus on violence against women and girls, actively campaigning against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
