Gaddum

About

Gaddum is a part of the Thinking Ahead pathway in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale. Getting Help provides holistic support to help clients overcome barriers in meeting health and social care needs which are impacting on their wellbeing and mental health.

What we do

We work with five partner organisations, to ensure we are able to meet the needs of our clients. Our partners all have established links within the community and provide support tailored to their service users. These are:

  • Petrus: Housing, benefits, homelessness, PIP advice groups, as well as providing access to showers, means and washing facilities.
  • Rochdale Connections Trust: Domestic Violence, support groups, awareness sessions, domestic abuse support for children, young people and adults, one to one counselling, mentoring services and employment support.
  • Rochdale Women’s Welfare Association: Classes, advice, groups and domestic violence support for the BAME community.
  • Recovery Republic: Holistic support for substance misuse, courses, groups, debt and benefits advice.
  • The Proud Trust: Support and groups for the LGBTQ+ community.

We work with clients to co-create support plans which allow them to meet their short and long term goals, and address any barriers which may be preventing them from addressing their unmet health and social care needs. This is done through one to one contact with an assigned key worker, where the client may be signposted onto other services, community organisations or groups.

Palliative Care Rochdale

Gaddum offers a paediatric palliative care service for families across Salford, Rochdale and Stockport. This specialist service supports the families of children with a life limiting or a life threatening illness. Our service is also offered after a child has passed away. Gaddum’s trained staff are able to work with parents, siblings and carers.

The service is available for families whose care is provided by the clinical teams in the above areas, and referrals are made through these teams.

Other services we provide

Carers Service

A carer is anyone who cares, unwaged for a friend or family member who due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction cannot cope without their support.

Anyone can become a carer; carers come from all walks of life, all cultures and can be of any age. Many carers do not consider themselves to be a carer; they are just looking after their mother, son, or best friend, just getting on with it and doing what anyone else would in the same situation.

Adult Counselling Service

Our counselling service is based at Gaddum in central Manchester, offering therapy for common mental health conditions. This service can be accessed by anyone, regardless of where you live. We accept self-referrals, as well as referrals from other agencies, professionals and family members.
