Infectious Diseases (NHS trust)

We provide inpatient and outpatient care in purpose built facilities, provided by consultant-led medical teams and multi-disciplinary teams, including specialist nurse teams for HIV and/or hepatitis.

How it works

This service is for patients with (known or presumed) imported, community acquired or hospital acquired infections. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • HIV
  • Hepatitis C and B
  • Infections of the intestines, skin, muscles, joints, or respiratory, urinary, cardiovascular and nervous systems (such as, meningitis and encephalitis)
  • TB
  • Malaria
  • Typhoid
  • Sepsis and blood-stream infections.

How to access the service

Referrals are taken from other healthcare workers such as, GPs, hospital doctors, specialist nurses and allied health professionals.

For those with specific other infections, such as hepatitis C, referrals can be received from drug workers.

Inpatient service is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
