Me and my family:
My names Nicole Mackie and I am an ofsted registered chilminder based in Southcote in Reading.
I live with my partner of 15 years Chris and our two children eight- year-old son Stanley and five-year old daughter Sienna.
I strive to provide a warm and friendly home from home environment, I work with parents to provide each child with the best opportunity to play and learn.
My background:
I have worked as an early year practitioner at Whitley park primary school for
7 years in the early years team both reception and nursery aged children
. My roles and responsibility's included
Encouraging learning and development, through play and teaching. Creating a secure environment, using imagination to help children to learn.
*Working with parents to support their children.
*Enabling children to build their literacy, language and numeracy skills.
*Monitoring progress and planning educational games.
*Putting together activities which will keep the children engaged throughout the day.
*Helping children get ready for the transition into a classroom environment.
*Helping children to become more independent when carrying out daily tasks.
*Creating the right balance between activities and down time.
Before being an EYP I worked in a reading day nursery as a team leader and running a room with 6 members of staff.
I feel the skills I have learnt over the years will help to support me with my childminding for the future.
Previous to this I have worked as a team leader in a day nursery and a nursery nurse at another reading day nursery.
My Qualifications
CACHE Level 3 in childcare and education
Paediatric first aid training 12 hours
Level 2 food hygiene training

My Home
I pride myself on having a safe, clean and smoke free home. I have a large enclosed garden full of equipment and toys, which is always open to the children. I am within walking distance of parks, library, duck pond, toddler groups, children's centres and local shops, and a frequent visitor to all of them!

Description
I am a small childminding setting, whom offers the home from home comforts for your little one.
We attend regular toddler groups, softly settings, park visits. I have a large enclosed garden which is always open and accessible.
1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?
I follow the EYFS and also complete a 2 year review between 2-3 yeas of age. Parents know I have an open door policy and will happily come to discuss their Child's need with me.
2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?
I mainly use what's app on regular basis sending daily updates and photos.
3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?
I will some best to support your child In any way I can, if this needs to be in regards to buying resources or attending groups I'm happy to do so.
4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?
In my previous experience having a calm and relax setting and working with the parents in how they feel the best strategies to use with their child.
5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?
My setting is open to all children and will look at what is needed as and when a new child starts.
6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?
Daily updates via what's app, 2 year reviews and any other updates as and when needed.
7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?
I would look at the trips before making them and ensure they are accessible to all.
8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?
Not very, but this could be changed if needs be.
9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?
Working with schools, exchanging details about child between settings, school visits.
10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?
I send out a yearly questionnaire for parents to give me feedback. I am also open for parents to come and have a chat whenever they feel they need to.
