If a DRE is offered in Reading we can claim the charge of the appointeeship to be deducted from the care charge as part of a client’s support, this will depend on how Reading as a council operates in regards to DRE’s.
We do not have a limit of personal savings that we support individuals with. We do however explore if a deputyship will be more beneficial for a clients welfare if they have savings in excess of £16,000. This often depends if property is involved and the vulnerability of the client.
We do not stop supporting an individual unless the client’s needs change or a different provider is requested by the client.
If the client has capacity, it is up to the client if they would like to keep using our services.
We support clients through the UK and have been able to succesfully carry out this role without the need for personal visits except in exceptional circumstances through the use of Teams meetings. The DWP accepts corporate acting bodies to be able to carry out meetings at any job centre without the need of the individual.
We would be open however to commit to a presence in Reading if the volume of referrals allowed the use of this.
We offer a pre-paid card system to client's who are unable to open a bank account or if a client has lost the use of their bank.
