Early Years Private, Voluntary & Independent Settings

Description

Childminder located near Reading town centre. Registered to care for six children under eight years old. I can offer places for funded two, three and four year olds. Can offer term time only places if required.

Local Offer updated - February 2024

1: How does the setting identify children with additional needs or SEND?

Regular observations are made of each child to assess their learning and development, any additional needs will be identified during the observation process.

2: How will I be informed / consulted about the ways in which my child is being supported?

I aim to work in partnership with parents through daily discussion about their child. I give information on the activities they have been doing and any particular aspects of their development I have observed  that day. I complete the 2 year progress check in consultation with parents.

3: How will the setting adapt the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for my child's needs?

Each child in the Early Years Foundation Stage is provided with learning opportunities according to their individual interests and development needs. Next steps are set following observation and discussion with parents.

4: What teaching strategies does the setting use for children with additional needs or learning difficulties?

I would work together with parents and any professionals involved with the child to complete an education and care plan according to the child's individual needs.

5: What additional support does the setting provide for children with additional needs or SEND?

I would work with the local childrens centre and early years teams to provide additional support as required.

6: How will the setting monitor my child's progress and how will I be involved in this?

Regular observations are made of each child, these are then used to plan the next steps for the child. Parents are consulted regularly regarding their child's progress and are involved in planning the next steps for their child. I use the early years outcomes and the 2 year progress check to monitor each child's progress.

7: How do you ensure children with additional needs or SEND can be included in the same activities as other children, including trips?

I have a wide range of resources available to cater for different needs and interests. Daily risk assessments are completed and these include risk assessments for any trips made.

8: How accessible is the building for children with mobility difficulties / wheelchair users?

There is a small step up to enter the  building. The playroom and lounge/dining room are on the ground floor. Unfortunately the toilet is in a downstairs bathroom as my property is a ground floor and lower ground floor maisonette. I take the children out every day. All the places we visit are wheelchair accessible and have accessible toulet/changing facilities.

9: How will you support my child's transition to a new setting or school?

I prepare children for transition by talking about it with them and their parents, visits to the new setting/school and sharing my records about the child's development with the new setting/school.

10: How does the setting assess the overall effectiveness of its SEN provision and how can parents / carers take part in this evaluation?

Feedback from parents and as part of Ofsted self evaluation process.

11: Who should I contact if I am considering registering for a place at the setting?

Ellie King

12: What arrangements does the setting have for feedback from parents / carers, including compliments and complaints?

Verbal feed back is welcomed at all times. If a parent has any complaints about my service I would ask that they discuss it with me so I can try to resolve the situation. Complaints policy and book available. Compliments are gratefully received.
