Childminder Plus (RBWM Short Break)

Children and Young People Disability Service logo

RBWM’s Children and Young People Disability Service co-ordinates the Childminder Plus service as part of its programme to provide families with short breaks.  Childminder Plus provides families with a bank of specialist childminders trained to work with children and young people aged 0-18 with special educational needs and disabilities. The childminders are Ofsted registered and are part of RBWM’s community childminders.

This scheme is used for short breaks in the day, after school, weekends and overnight but is not used for day to day childcare for parents and carers to go out to work.  Childminder Plus is also available during the holiday periods.

The child or young person is generally looked after within the Childminder’s home, where they have access to a range of suitable play equipment and facilities to promote their learning and development.  The Childminders may also take the child or young person to groups and on outings.

Referral for Short Break Services is through the Early Help and  Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH).  See the referral section below for details.
