There is no minimum age for a babysitter, although it is recommended you choose someone over 16 years old. If harm comes to your child and the babysitter is younger, you may be responsible and be deemed negligent. Even a 16 year old may not be mature enough. You are required to asses the person’s maturity and suitability according to the requirements of the childcare and your children.
