How are childcare provisions regulated and assessed? How can I access their reports?
Ofsted registers most but not all childcare, either on the Early Years Register or the Childcare Register. All registered childcare providers must meet the welfare requirement in the Early Years Foundation Stage relating to safeguarding and promoting the child’s welfare, suitable people to care for children, the premises, their organisation and documentation requirements and the learning and development opportunities
If the childcare provider is registered to receive the 3 and 4 Year Old Free Entitlement funding they also need to meet the additional criteria set by the local authority to provide high quality childcare that meets the individual children’s needs.
You can read the inspection reports on the Ofsted website.
