What is the difference between a pre-school and a day nursery?

Their usually offer places for young babies from the end of your maternity leave until school age (0-5 years). A day nursery can offer sessions on a full or part-time basis but are usually open all day, all year round.

Pre-schools usually provide the essential learning and development opportunity for 2 – 5 year olds for families that do not need full time childcare. Pre-school offers part-time sessions for your child, and usually fit in with the times and term dates of the local schools.
