Barnardo's Byker Sands Family Centre
The Byker Sands Family Centre is based in the heart of Byker. There is also a Family Support Team covering the Kenton and Fawdon areas of Newcastle.
The Centre provides a range of community based family support services for children, young people and their families, including:
- Drop-in
- One to one work
- Groupwork
- Crèche Provision
- Family Learning
- Parenting Groups
- Freedom Programme for women who have been affected by domestic violence
- Support to families who are new to the area
- Holiday activities
- Training
At Byker Sands there are practitioners who are trained and experienced in running a number of parenting programmes. They also work in partnership with Changing Trax, Strengthening Families and Newcastle City Council.
