Community car schemes are a non profit making, organised form of car sharing to provide transport to medical appointments for people without access to a car. They are set up in areas with little or no public transport and are run by volunteer drivers using their own cars.
The Langham Scheme, which only serves the residents of Langham, uses a rota system whereby the driver for that week, starting on a Monday, is on duty for the whole week -ideally one week in three months. The drivers are paid an agreed mileage rate to cover their running costs.
This is not part of the Rural Transport Team.
Community Car Service taking residents of Langham to medically associated appointments. Run under the auspices of WRVS and carried out by drivers who are all WRVS members. Details of the service appears in the Local Lynx Village Magazine.
