Merton Local Area Written Statement of Action and Easy Read Guide - Updated October2022

Between 10 June 2019 and 14 June 2019, the local area of Merton was inspected by Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills) and CQC (Care Quality Commission). The inspection was to see how well the area had put in place the changes across all services that the Children and Families Act 2014 requires for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families.

Whilst the Inspection identified a number of strengths and areas for development in the local area, there were also three areas of significant weakness identified in Merton. These were set out in a letter which was published on the Ofsted website on 18 June 2019. To show how the Local Authority and the area’s Clinical Commissioning Group (now Integrated Care Board) would address these areas of weakness, we developed and delivered a Written Statement of Action together. In October 2022, inspectors re-visited us and found we had made sufficient progress against all three areas of weakness identified.
