Personal Assistant Finder

Personal Assistant Finder is a free service. We understand that it can be difficult to find the right people to help you and that there is a growing demand for Personal Assistants which is why this service has been developed.

If you are looking to employ a Personal Assistant it will help you to find and recruit the right Personal Assistant (PA) for you. You can also register with this site and post your own job listing.

If you want to work as a Personal Assistant you can register and place an advert highlighting your skills to help you find employment. You can also browse the list of current job adverts.

The PA finder is not vetted by Merton Council, nor has everybody on it been CRB checked. It is the responsibility of the employer to check the skills and suitability of a PA advertising on it during the interview process. However, if we find profiles that are unsuitable to be working with us or our customers, we reserve the right to remove them.

Useful advice for employing personal assistants

The employing personal assistants toolkit guides you through the process of employing a personal assistant, what to do when they are working for you as well as helping you to understand your responsibilities as an employer and your legal obligations. There are some really useful templates that you can use such as job descriptions, application forms and contracts of employment.

The toolkit can be found at http://www.skillsforcare.org.uk/Employing-your-own-care-and-support/Information-for-individual-employers/Information-for-individual-employers.aspx

PA Training

People who employ their own care staff (individual employers), can apply for funding from Skills for Care to cover the full cost of care related training and development for both themselves and their personal assistants. This could include short courses on dementia awareness, Emergency First Aid or holistic massage, or an accredited qualification such as a Diploma in Health & Social Care.

Skills for Care are now accepting applications for funding for 2015-2016. All learning and qualifications must be paid for and started after the 1st April 2015 and before the 31st March 2016.

For further information and to download a copy of the application form please visit: http://www.skillsforcare.org.uk/Funding/Individual-employer-funding/Individual-employer-funding.aspx

Makaton Training Available

What is Makaton?

Makaton uses signs, symbols and speech to help children and adults communicate. It is designed to support spoken language, and the signs and symbols are used with speech in spoken word order. Signs are used to provide extra clues about what someone is saying and can help people who have no speech, or whose speech is unclear. Symbols can help people who have limited speech and those who cannot, or prefer not to sign.
